Now this video did a couple things to me. First, I can’t be more thankful that Mike and I drank some extremely strong coffee before leaving for class. That movie would have put me to sleep if I didn’t have a triple dose of caffeine pumping through my system. That was one boring movie. I think I successfully made it through the film by telling myself that something was going to happen. At the same time, I found the film very interesting. I know I’m contradicting myself. But as boring as the movie was, I have never seen anything quite like it before. I have never had any type of experience with such a simplistic style of living. I can’t imagine living without the internet, television, my cell phone, my Ipod… so many inventions that have made their way into everyday life. Impressed by a television? I don’t think so. Not unless it’s a massive 1080P LCD. If I mentioned that to the people in the film… I don’t think they would have a clue as to what I was talking about.
I found the film boring because it just dragged on for so long. What had interested me about it was that the small community was completely dependent on camel to survive. I’m not entirely sure where they got food from. It looked like the just ate soup and rice, but I’m not sure if they had other sources of food. I was kind of bothered by the limited knowledge I have on their lifestyle. I wish I knew more about that type of life and that culture before watching the movie. More information would have made the film more enjoyable for me. Still I was impressed by what little people can live off of. I know that I couldn’t do it. And for that matter, I don’t want to think about it. How disgusting it would be to not be able to shower in hot water everyday. I think I’m going to go shower right now.

just so you know, that whole “it put me to sleep but it was still really interesting” thing totally makes sense. maybe a faster paced movie would have worked better for you. there were a lot of extra clips in the movie that were pretty interesting but definitely not crucial to the story line, at least i didnt think so.
